This reminds me of your 2009 Stranger piece from the great recession "In defense of the Columbia Center" which to this day will have me in tears when reading the part when you mention the death of your mother, the vivid description of the cemetery in Renton, the mourning relatives, and the Mexican gravediggers. It's so brutally honest and raw and unafraid in it's testimonial.
