“Trump floated the idea of seizing control of Gaza, displacing the Palestinians—whose homeland it is—and transforming the area into a luxury seaside real estate project”

Ha ha, how’s that for a one-state solution? From the sea to the river, bitches! 😂🤣😂🤣

2

So the guy that raped the baby and the woman that killed her own child are gonna get sent to Guantanamo Bay... right?

Right?!

Oh no. Just random dark skinned people? Ok.

3

@1: Well, obviously, Trump is better on this issue than Genocide Joe, because there’s nothing worse than genocide, right? And Trump’s merely proposing complete ethnic cleansing.

Well-played, Abandon Harris crew, ambulance-blocking activists, loudmouth student protesters, the Stranger, and the Stranger's supportive commenters. Take a bow, every one of you!

Oh — and in case anyone here was going to express surprise, let Our Very Own Dear Divine Mrs. Vel-DuRay rap your knuckles for not paying attention:

“trump has concepts of a plan for Gaza, and Miriam Adelson just gave a trump pact ninety-five million dollars. She is in favor of annexation of Gaza, and wants a return on her investment.

“Oh, and David Duke endorsed Jill Stein.

Trump is not a smart person. Netanyahu just convinced him to pick up the check.

Tell me again how they didn't collaborate to prolong the Gaza War and cripple Harris' support among Muslims and Left-of-Lefties.

5

tensorna dear, thank you for the citation, but I'll just gently murmur that I don't believe in corporal punishment.

I do, however, believe in giving wedgies. A wedgie for all of those people you cite - especially the older liberals who knew better, and got all those anger-prone undergraduates angry. They were all played.

6

If you aren't down with the Trump administration, than please please please move to Costa Rica. It only makes our work (Making America Great Again) easier.

Trumpifying Gaza sounds decent to me. At least it's something new when everything else has failed. The Palestinian Authority and Hamas were incapable of governing the area, Egypt doesn't want them back and the world would freak out if Israel occupied the land. Taking a hellhole and turning it into a world class destination resort is like making lemonade when life hands you a lemon. Sure, Americans want to withdraw from the Middle East in general but we will always support Israel.

Goodbye CIA officers. Your days of playing fast and loose with the rules are coming to an end. You are the folks who created the crack epidemic in CA and nationwide so you could fund your covert ops. You funded and trained Osama Bin Laden. Hell, you even arrested and convicted my uncle Ed Wilson for trafficking firearms in Libya. Firearms that you paid him to smuggle. He was finally released from federal prison when the judge got his hands on redacted documents showing the entire smuggling operation was indeed created and funded by the CIA. Good riddance to you all.

It's a little early to congratulate RFKJ and Tulsi Gabbard but we are one step closer to realizing the Trump Dream Team.

When will parents learn that prescribing testosterone to a boy with a natural deficiency is not the same medical practice as prescribing testosterone to a girl who wants to "transition"? I guess they'll learn after the Supreme Court rules in favor of Tennessee in the Skrmeti case. A ruling that should end up squashing this latest case as well.

7

@1, quick question. Do you think that's a good idea?

Otherwise, I'm glancing at that lengthy, elaborate, fevered-dream comment @6, and I have to wonder, who the hell comes up with this stuff? Are these paid disinformation operatives or just deeply delusional people with vast amounts of free time? Either way, they're clearly doing a great job of creating an alternate reality and gaslighting us into losing our democratic republic.

And no, I'm not suggesting that the American experiment is being vanquished in the Stranger comment threads. Credit to The Seattle Times for having a commenting system that reduces the impact of these virtual taggers.

8

Our Dear WereBackBaby is a sad example of the tragedy of letting the elderly "surf the web" without competent adult supervision. Their delusions and rancor are a direct result of a society that too often abandons the elderly to a life of isolation and inappropriate media consumption, just as their mental capcities begin to decline and they are susceptible to fraudulent messaging.

WereBackBaby, is there a senior center in your community? They offer companionship and, oftentimes, a hot, nutritious meal. Or, if there's a bowling center in your area, there are often daytime leagues for you people. Golf is also said to be a splendid exercise. Fresh air, and all that.

Who knows? Perhaps it's not too late to find love in this, your final chapter. Oh, it may not be of the sexual type, but I'm sure you've found that the urge for that type of activity has decreased with age. It's having someone at the end that matters.

9

@7 - "paid disinformation" always pops into leftist heads, as if that is the only reason someone might post an opinion contrary to the left or the previous administration. It started off hilariously but now it's just getting boring. Get a new shtick.

Also, the left engaged in the single largest gaslighting episode of the last 20 years (Russia got Trump elected, Joe Biden is smarter and more capable than he has ever been. Hunter Biden's laptop was Russian disinformation.) so please stop using the word gaslighting (and it's derivatives) as well.

Thanks!

10

@6 - I admit it, I laughed out loud at “the Trump Dream Team” line. America is beyond fucked at this point, but having a sense of humor is still important. I will continue to treat your comments as anti-comedy satire, because I refuse to believe that any real human being could possibly be this stupid. Thank you for your service.

11

@8 - you have misguided (and slightly shameful) opinions of our nation's Senior Citizens. But I won't take them personally as I'm only 48. Bit of advice though, well thought arguments (or even half thought arguments) are always more effective at changing opinions than ad-hominem attacks.

12

I can't believe the author looks at one little story about a person repeatedly doing terrible things to children without showing any signs of remorse, who is then prevented from continuing to harm children only by being involuntarily confined, and jumps to the conclusion that carceral solutions are sometimes warranted. I am beginning to question your commitment to Abolition!

13

He’s already shredded the constitution so why not add some ethnic cleansing to the mix and see where this all goes. With any luck, in a bunker and a bullet through the back of his skull.

14

@9: dear god you're tiresome. you're obviously the latter of @7 Cressona's 2 possibilities: "deeply delusional people with vast amounts of free time."

your examples of leftist gaslighting are laughable. Russia aided MFer in being elected. we'll never know if their targeting of soft-brained social media users was decisive.

knowing that Ed Wilson is your uncle explains a lot. did you grow up in Nampa, or north of Seattle? is your dad still around?

15

@11:

Cognitive decline can quite easily being in ones late 40's, so don't count yourself out. As the saying goes, "age is just a state of mind."

As for 47, I think the best thing for those of us who still possess compassion, empathy, and intelligence to do is to ignore him outright. After all, he's just the huckstering front man; the real villains are those pulling his strings and we already know who they are. Or do goobers like WBB actually think he's the one who's been dictating this avalanche of executive orders all by himself?
I'll bet good money he doesn't even read them before some sycophantic flunkie shoves them under his hamberder-hole to Sharpie his signature onto - they do of course give him a very short synopsis to repeat to the press-gaggle, since that's as much information as he can hold in his tiny, probably syphilis-riddled pea-brain. But at the rate things are going, even that won't be necessary, since there won't be much of an independent free press around soon to take note.

16

Catalina, tensorna, et al, what's interesting too reading these comments @6 and @8 is that anyone who offers any perspective that doesn't fit with the day's cartoonish, black-and-white alternate reality is immediately branded as "the left."

The one thing that is absolutely anathema to these people is any sort of serious, mature, reality-based discussion. They have to shout that down.

Also, seeing this sort of post-reality assault makes me appreciate the likes of thumpus, NotMyopic, and "Phoebe" in "Wallingford." They might be trolling with a right-wing bent, but at least they're expressing their own peculiar views that don't always align with the disinformation the MAGA universe wants to put on blast on any given day.

Anyway, this'll probably have to be my last comment on this thread, lest I get in trouble at work. Apologies to the commenters out there who get offended at my making any reference to work.

17

@14 - I grew up in Eastern WA but my grandparents got established in the Edmonds area (where my Dad was born) after my grandfather left the NAVY. Ed lived mostly in Virginia but came back to live with my other grandfather in Edmonds after he was released from prison. My dad passed away a couple of years ago.

18

I’ll again speculate @6, @9 is a parody troll. What are the chances Ed Wilson’s nephew posts here? C’mon.

@16: His mindset, whether sincere or affected, represents the flip side of the Stranger’s attacks upon the growing number of voters in Seattle who have rejected the Stranger's politics. Per the Stranger, as of November 2021, Seattle magically became infested with conservatives and right-wingers, because it’s doubleplus unpossible for a well-educated, well-traveled, diverse electorate to reject the Stranger’s brilliantly successful positions on abolition, homelessness, etc.

19

@7: “quick question. Do you think that's a good idea?”

lol, no, it’s a terrible idea. All the one-state solutions are terrible ideas. Most Arabs don’t want to live under Jewish sovereignty, and the Jews sure as hell don’t want to live under Arab sovereignty, lol. Neither Jews nor Arabs are willing to cede sovereignty.

Two-state is the only solution to this puzzle, provided the Arabs can someday abide the existence of a Jewish state. A lot of Arabs (and even some lefties outside the Arab world) are still struggling to swallow that bitter Jewish pill. 😆

20

@1/3/4 sorry to interrupt your victory lap but Trump isn't going to annex Gaza, and he almost certainly doesn't even actually plan to.

https://m.jpost.com/opinion/article-840776

Guess you guys have something in common with WereBackBaby: you all actually believe Trump is gonna do the crazy nonsense he says

21

I do apologize, WereBackBaby. I just assumed by your general tone and…..quaint worldview that you were an isolated, elderly, crank.

I see now that you’re an isolated, middle-aged, crank.

22

@20: I don't believe we'll make Gaza a US Territory. I believe that Trump believes it. Until he doesn't. Which is coming, no doubt. I do believe that Bibi would be more than happy to have the US pay for rebuilding, though. he'd be less happy about 2.25 million Gazans becoming US Nationals.

@18: see @17. I buy it. Ed Wilson appears to be his Great Uncle.

23

@22 Part of the deal is that the present population of Gaza is sent elsewhere. We wouldn't want brown people in our new colony! I man, except for the Saudis. Their money is good anywhere. And staff, of course.

24

Yes, this is all going completely as I've been advocating for years. I've been saying Canada should be our 51st state, Greenland 52nd, and Gaza 53rd. Washington DC meanwhile can continue to eat shit for all eternity. It's all completely logical and it's embarrassing that any of this should even warrant further explanation.

@11. You are as dumb as you are stupid.

30

@24
No, we need the Dominican Republic as the 51st state. Think of the great baseball teams we would have!!

31

Obviously Canada will be broken up into several states (roughly mirroring the current provinces) when they are colonized. The Northern provinces may be joined together and the Eastern provinces may be joined together (and with Greenland) simply for the purposes of having enough population to form a viable state. When it's all said and done we are probably talking about adding 6-7 new states. It's an exciting time to be alive as we Make America Great Again.

32

@31 Or more likely, the west coast, New England, and some of the Midwest like Michigan, Wisconsin, and MN bail out and join Canada. That combo will have a larger GDP than the rump United States of MAGA. It will also leave the rump with no Pacific seaports, just the mid-Atlantic and ironically the Gulf of Mexico ports.

But we will enjoy using you as a source of cheap outsourced labor.

@20: Your belief that saying, "No, it isn't," magically counts as an argument or explanation continues to amuse.

Via constant ritual flagellation of the word, "genocide," you guys jammed yourselves into a rhetorical corner from which you now cannot escape. So, when Trump threatens actual ethnic cleansing in Gaza, you have nothing left but denial. Great work!

But, let's have some fun with that huge pile of utterly groundless speculation you cited as 'proof':

"On the face of it, the plan is not remotely feasible. The US military occupying Gaza is a logistical and political nightmare."

As @23 noted, total ethnic cleansing would happen first. After that was completed, the US military would have no problem occupying an empty territory twice the size of Seattle.

"For decades, Arab nations have loudly supported the Palestinian cause, but they have done little to materially improve the situation in Gaza beyond funneling money to Hamas."

That kind of implies they don't actually care about the Palestinians, because, as the Stranger just spent fifteen months most carefully not observing, Hamas reliably uses the Palestinians for human shields.

"Meanwhile, wealthy Gulf states, despite their enormous resources, have largely avoided offering Palestinian refugees permanent resettlement or serious infrastructure investments in Gaza."

That also kind of implies they don't actually care about the Palestinians.

"By throwing out a seemingly preposterous plan, Trump may be forcing these countries to react – if only to reject his idea and propose an alternative. Suddenly, discussions about how to rebuild Gaza, who will govern it, and where displaced Palestinians might go shift from a vague, open-ended conversation to one with real stakes."

Sure. Or the countries which have repeatedly shown they don't actually care about the Palestinians (see above) will make the appropriately outraged-sounding noises, then return to not caring about the Palestinians (already in progress).

Now, how about thinking that maybe, just maybe, Trump had a different audience in mind. Like, perhaps, the guy standing right there next to him might be a clue as to whom that audience might be? Y'know, like maybe the Israeli hard right might take their very own message from the hard-right President of the United States saying the ethnic cleansing of every last Palestinian from Gaza would be a-ok with him?

Naahh, that couldn't possibly be it...

35

@34 Awww, but duuude. Protesting Dems, Universities, and blocking hard blue city highways is sooooo much fun, gratifying, and ultimately totally safe! No risk at all!! Reenact the 60's man!

But going out there and facing actual fascists? Awww dude, that's a buzzkill. They might get hurt.

36

Republicans:
We’ll turn a blind eye while Musk takes over the Federal payment systems, (not to mention removing all the Federal employees)
Democrats:
Could you please give us $3 so maybe we could win back a seat or two in the House in 2026?
Holy Crap we are screwed blue!

37

@34 let's make a bet, if Trump actually goes through with ethnically cleansing Gaza I'll never again comment on this site. If he goes his whole term without doing it you never comment again. Deal?

@35 what are you doing to stand up to actual fascists? Voting?

38

@37: Maybe read a bit harder next time. I didn't say TRUMP would go through with ethnically cleansing Gaza. I hinted that maybe he's indicating he wouldn't object too terribly much if someone else did...

(If you still somehow missed my point, then here's another hint for you: "... get me the Finance Minister!")

Also, why on earth would I want you to create another account here?

39

exactly.

40

Here's the thing: trump has no concept of "ethnic cleansing" or genocide. He was never bright to begin with and his age is catching up with him. (if you saw his appearance at the National Prayer Breakfast this morning, you'd agree. Granted, it was much too early for him, so he didn't have a chance to do his hair or make-up the way he wanted, but he also sounded like he was drugged)

What he sees in Gaza is a real estate opportunity because that's all he's ever done. That's the only thing Daddy ever let him do. He probably doesn't even care if it ends up like the Beirut Holiday Inn (google it) or even knows what happened there. It's just a chance to tear down buildings and build a master plan community with his name on it.

The people who control him (Musk, Putin, Netanyahu, Adelson, Jared) are very familiar with the concepts of Ethnic Cleansing and genocide, and they're cool with it.

41

@38 oh I see, you agree with me that Trump was never going to annex Gaza for the US, my mistake. You just think that if Israel were to commit crimes against humanity in Gaza he wouldn't care to do anything about it--just like Biden.

42

@41: I didn't offer an opinion upon whether Trump would actually try to annex Gaza or not. I merely pointed out his proposal to do so would have the territory ethnically cleansed prior to any attempt at annexation. You're free to condemn such a proposal anytime you like, but apparently you're just so much of Biden hater, you simply cannot move on.

43

@42 I definitely condemn any politician who passively supports Israelis committing crimes against the Palestinian people. You on the other hand stridently defended and excused the Israeli military campaign in Gaza, which resulted in tens of thousands of civilians deaths, so I'm surprised you aren't selectively quoting UN resolutions and the Geneva Conventions to explain that actually it's totally acceptable and legal for Israelis to forcibly relocate the entire population of an area so Trump and Jared can build hotels, Israel has a right to defend itself, etc etc ad nauseum. I guess you're just a standard lib who is outraged when Trump does something but looks the other way when a Dem does it (see "kids in cages" for another recent example). Better a "Biden hater" than a soulless hypocrite, in my opinion anyway.

44

It is duly noted that Catalina gives a pass to Democratic party elites for pushing pro-genocidal policies on the overwhelming majorities of Democrats even though these policies were very unpopular with their constituencies thereby playing a role in the loss to Trump, and instead blames the humanitarians who warned of this possible outcome.

"Kremlin Asset Tulsi Gabbard." Nice one.

The Stranger columnists, continuing with their clueless empire boot-licking, almost as if it's by design. Has anyone checked whether they're getting money from USAID?

47

Oh averagebob, how you do prattle on. Calling out naive people who were played by Putin and Netanyahu (and probably the trump campaign) is "giving a pass to Democratic party elites"? That's certainly an interesting take on things, but that's one of your gifts, isn't it?

But it's been noted. Yawn.

There's so many moral scolds on Slog these days, averagebob. You're just another one of them.

48

@43: Dude, if you can't even criticize Donald F'n Trump (!) for openly advocating ethnic cleansing (!!) against the Palestinians (!!!) without throwing in some Biden hate, you're not likely to have much success in getting anyone to believe you actually care about the things you loudly claim to care about.

49

Bless you, Catalina Vel-DuRay, for being so consistently wicked kicking spot on and beating me to it.
Kudos, for the WIN!!!!

I usually just scroll past Baby Doofus's nonsensical comments. I am convinced that an AI microchip has been planted in his feeble brain, replacing any vital tissue he might have had. Trumpf and its marionette puppeteers Musk, Putin, Netanyahu, Adelson, Jared, ad nauseum* (*Thank you, Catalina) have Baby Doofus and his fellow MAGA tool lemmings programmed exactly where they want them.
It's only a matter of time when MAGAts resort to cannibalism out of sheer 'Wait......WHAAAAAT???' desperation, fighting each other like sewer rats in an exterminator's trap.
My guess is when the rest of this dying planet says, 'fuck it', declares WWIII, and aims all nukes at what USED to be the United States of America.

Is it just me, or is it true that most blood red neofascist Civil War 2.0 MAGA populations tend to live in food deserts and in extreme outdoor temperatures (hot, dry, humid, below zero, etc.) with limited healthcare, educational opportunities, or resources?

51

The death of this planet and every living being on her will be entirely due to Viagra, testosterone, and MAGA stupidity.
