I'm down with the YIMBY mantra...

“You have to support building, even when it’s a type of building you hate. Is it ugly? Get over yourself. Is it low-income housing? Get over yourself. Is it luxury housing? Get over yourself. We really need everything right now.”

...but, man, the building that went up at 16th and Thomas is really, really ugly. I'll get over myself—hell, I'm already over myself. But I can be over myself and make an observation about a new building in my neighborhood. I'm happy to see more housing going up, particularly within walking distance to/a short bus ride from Capitol Hill's brand new light rail station. But I can be for it (theoretically) and over myself (generally) and still make (and share) an aesthetic judgement about a new building. And... blech.
