Dragonbone Chair is sitting on my bookshelf, ready to be the next series I jump into. Half-Price Books had the entire four-part set on the shelf, and you're making me regret the restraint I showed at the time by only picking up the first volume instead of the entire thing. Considering how long it takes me to get through a novel, it may be a while. But you got me intrigured!
Thankfully Banewreaker (the one I just picked up) is only a 2-book series, so hopefully Williams' series will still feel pertinent by the time I get to it.
And you're right, fantasy covers used to be better. As an example, the boring covers that GRRM's books started using starting with Feast look like garbage compared to the scenes rendered on the cover.
